Class Teacher - Primary Curriculum Lead
Location: Near Attleborough, Norfolk
Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 (M1 – UPS3) plus £2,750 lead allowance
Hours: 40 hours per week
Start Date: January 2025 (will consider later if needed)

We are currently seeking a Class Teacher - Primary Curriculum Lead near Attleborough, Norfolk, to join our primary school team. The successful candidate will take on additional responsibility as the Curriculum Lead for Literacy. This role is perfect for an experienced teacher with a passion for literacy and curriculum development.
The school near Attleborough, Norfolk, provides day placements for students aged 5 to 11 years, who primarily face communication and interaction challenges or specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia. Some students may be on the autistic spectrum or have anxieties that impact their learning. The successful teacher will work with small classes (5 to 6 children) who benefit from bespoke educational and therapeutic support.
As a Class Teacher - Primary Curriculum Lead near Attleborough, Norfolk, you will be working with students in KS1 and Lower KS2, all of whom receive significant therapeutic intervention. You will need to be a team player, working closely with others within your class, other classes with similar provisions, and across the wider school.
Strategic Direction:
- Develop and implement policies for the literacy curriculum in line with the school’s commitment to high-quality teaching and learning.
- Promote the importance and value of literacy across the school.
- Have a clear understanding of how the literacy curriculum is delivered and its impact on pupil achievement.
- Use this understanding to contribute to the school development plan, producing action plans where necessary.
- Ensure that the curriculum supports the needs of all students, including disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
- Contribute to shaping the future of the school through the Professional Leadership Team (PLT) structure.
Leading the Curriculum:
- Regularly review the vision, aims, and purpose for the literacy curriculum.
- Ensure curriculum content is well-sequenced and promotes pupil progress.
- Oversee the planning and resourcing of the literacy curriculum across the school.
Leading and Managing Staff:
- Support staff development through meetings, additional CPD, and ongoing communication about literacy curriculum changes.
- Monitor teaching and learning by observing lessons, reviewing pupils' work, and discussing progress to assess the effectiveness of the literacy curriculum.
- Work closely with other teachers to ensure consistent curriculum delivery across the school.
Efficient and Effective Deployment of Resources:
- Provide support with resourcing the literacy curriculum.
- Create a welcoming and safe classroom environment near Attleborough, Norfolk, ensuring stimulating displays that inspire curiosity in pupils.
- Audit and manage resources to ensure they meet the needs of pupils and the curriculum.
- Support the preparation of resources for remote learning if necessary, to ensure literacy education can be continued from home.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). If not yet gained, candidates must seek to obtain this within one year of taking up the post.
- Successful experience in curriculum leadership and teaching.
- Effective management of resources, including people.
- Experience with Read Write Inc. (RWI) programme implementation is essential.
- Due to the rural location near Attleborough, Norfolk, candidates are strongly advised to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.
