The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide vital support to pupils both inside and outside the classroom.
Working alongside teachers, pastoral leads and other professionals, you will help create a safe, engaging and supportive learning environment where students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
You will support young people who may have experienced challenges throughout their educational journey and require patient, consistent and positive role models to support their development.
Key Responsibilities
• Support pupils with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges and additional learning needs
• Assist students in accessing learning and engaging positively with school life
• Deliver personalised learning activities and targeted interventions
• Build positive and professional relationships that promote confidence and self-esteem
• Support emotional regulation and encourage positive behaviour strategies
• Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to meet individual student needs
• Monitor progress and celebrate achievements
• Promote resilience, independence and essential life skills
• Help maintain a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
• Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times

Essential Skills and Experience

• Passion for supporting vulnerable learners to achieve success
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Desirable Qualifications
• Teaching Assistant qualification
• Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification
• Childcare qualification
• Health and Social Care qualification
• Team Teach, MAPA or behaviour management training
