Inspire EHC is recruiting for a Learning Mentor & SEN Support Assistant to join a specialist school near Bury St Edmunds that supports children and young people with SEMH needs, Autism and trauma-related experiences.
This is more than a classroom support role. You'll be helping pupils build confidence, manage emotions, develop positive relationships and re-engage with learning in a way that feels safe and achievable.
Working as part of a highly supportive multi-disciplinary team, you'll play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers and celebrate success, no matter how big or small.
Your Day-to-Day Role
You'll support pupils throughout the school day, helping them to feel secure, engaged and ready to learn.
Key responsibilities include:
• Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Supporting emotional regulation using trauma-informed approaches
• Providing consistent guidance and encouragement throughout the school day
• Helping pupils access learning both inside and outside the classroom
• Working alongside teachers, therapists and senior staff to deliver personalised support
• Supporting social development, wellbeing and self-esteem
• Adapting activities and learning resources to meet individual needs
• Promoting independence and celebrating progress at every opportunity
Who We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from individuals who are patient, resilient and genuinely passionate about helping young people thrive.
You will ideally have:
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or equivalent)
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, Autism or additional needs
• An understanding of trauma-informed practice, restorative approaches or behaviour support strategies
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A calm, empathetic and proactive approach
• The ability to travel to Bury St Edmunds on a daily basis
