SEN Teacher – Primary
Location: Smallfield, Surrey
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £150 - £230 a day (depending on experience)
Hours: 40 hours per week - Term Time only - Start time 8.15am - Finish time Monday/Wednesday/Thursday 4.45pm. Tuesday 5pm and Friday 4pm
Start date: As soon as possible
This is a specialist setting supporting pupils with a range of additional needs. The school provides a nurturing, structured environment where staff work closely together to ensure every child can make progress both academically and personally. Although it is a primary provision, many pupils are working approximately two academic years below their chronological age, making this role particularly well suited to an EYFS teacher.
- Plan, deliver and adapt curriculum content to meet pupils’ educational, physical and social needs
- Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Set, monitor and review personalised learning targets for pupils
- Assess, track and report on pupil progress in line with school policies and procedures
- Deliver well-structured, engaging lessons with clear objectives and appropriate challenge
- Contribute to annual reviews, including EHCPs, PEPs and LAC meetings
- Keep up to date with developments in autism practice to enhance teaching and support
- Use a positive, calm and non-confrontational approach to meet individual pupil needs
Skills and Qualifications:
- QTS is essential
- Experience supporting pupils with speech, language and communication needs
- Ability to teach across a range of subjects
- Knowledge and experience of supporting pupils with ASD, SEMH and PDA profiles
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Experience of a range of behaviour management strategies, including supporting pupils who present with challenging behaviour
