School Receptionist – SEMH Setting (Bury St Edmunds)
Pay: £13.80 – £14.50 per hour depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
Contract: Temp to Perm

We are looking for a warm, organised and welcoming School Receptionist to join an SEMH school in Bury St Edmunds. This setting supports children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs and provides a calm, nurturing and supportive environment where every student is valued and understood.
As the first point of contact, you will help the school run smoothly each day. You will greet visitors, parents and professionals, manage incoming calls and emails, and support staff with a range of administrative tasks. This is a varied role that suits someone who enjoys being busy, helpful and part of a supportive team.
Daily duties include welcoming visitors to the school, answering and directing calls, managing enquiries, supporting attendance and safeguarding procedures, maintaining accurate records, preparing documents and working closely with teaching and pastoral staff to keep daily operations running smoothly.
We are looking for someone who is approachable, patient and confident communicating with a wide range of people. You should be organised, able to multitask and remain calm during busy periods. Experience working in a school or SEND/SEMH environment is helpful but not essential. Good IT skills and a willingness to learn new systems are important.
