Our partner school in King’s Lynn is a specialist SEMH school providing education for pupils aged 11 to 16 with social, emotional, and mental health needs. The school offers a therapeutic, structured environment that supports students to develop resilience, confidence, and a positive approach to learning.
The secondary phase focuses on pupils who require additional support beyond mainstream secondary education. Classes are small, with high levels of adult support and access to dedicated sensory and calm rooms. Each day begins with wellbeing check-ins, providing a safe and nurturing environment for all students.
The Role
We are looking for a qualified and experienced Secondary Maths Teacher to join our SEMH secondary provision in King’s Lynn. The role involves teaching Key Stage 3 and 4 Maths to students with SEMH and other complex learning needs. The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging lessons, adapt the curriculum, and provide pastoral and emotional support.
Key Responsibilities:

Teach Maths to secondary students with SEMH, SEND, or complex learning needs.

Plan, deliver, and evaluate differentiated lessons aligned with the National Curriculum.

Provide a consistent, structured classroom environment that promotes learning and emotional wellbeing.

Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and external agencies to support students’ academic and social progress.

Assess and monitor progress, adapting teaching to individual needs.

Contribute to EHCP reviews, care plans, and safeguarding documentation.

Promote positive behaviour using restorative and trauma-informed approaches.
Person Specification
Essential:
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
-
Experience teaching secondary Maths
-
Understanding of SEMH and SEND provision
-
Strong classroom management, communication, and teamwork skills

Resilience, patience, and ability to adapt to challenging situations
Desirable:

Previous experience in a SEMH school, alternative provision, or special school

Training in trauma-informed practice or Team Teach

Knowledge of Thrive Approach, Zones of Regulation, or similar wellbeing frameworks
