SEN Maths Teacher - The Role
As a SEN Maths Teacher at our SEMH school in Kings Lynn, you will:
- Teach Maths to students across KS3 and KS4 with varied abilities, including those with complex needs.
- Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual learning needs of students in Kings Lynn.
- Use creative strategies to engage learners who may have experienced barriers to education.
- Implement effective behaviour management techniques, fostering a calm and safe learning environment.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including SEN specialists and pastoral staff, to support each child holistically.
- Provide emotional and social support to help students develop resilience, self-esteem, and positive behaviours.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely feedback to pupils, parents, and other stakeholders.
SEN Maths Teacher - Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver the Maths curriculum in line with national standards, adapting lessons to suit students' individual education plans (IEPs) in Kings Lynn.
- Employ trauma-informed teaching practices and behaviour strategies, including de-escalation and restorative approaches.
- Support students in developing functional numeracy skills that will equip them for life beyond school in Kings Lynn.
- Promote inclusion, encouraging students with varying abilities and emotional needs to participate fully in lessons.
- Work closely with support staff and therapists to address both academic and emotional needs of students in Kings Lynn.
SEN Maths Teacher- Requirements
- Qualified Maths Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience working with students with SEMH, SEN, or in alternative provision is desirable.
- Strong behaviour management skills, with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively.
- A compassionate and patient approach, with a commitment to helping students achieve their potential despite barriers.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and safeguarding in an educational setting in Kings Lynn.
- Ability to differentiate teaching for a wide range of abilities and learning needs.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and a desire to make a positive difference in the lives of young people.
