About the Role – SEN Teaching Assistant
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider specialist education team to provide individual and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
You will help pupils access learning, develop their independence and build positive relationships while ensuring they feel safe, supported and included throughout the school day.
This role would suit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Teaching Assistant or Support Worker who is passionate about working with children and young people with special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Support pupils to access classroom learning and individualised activities.

Work alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging and appropriate learning activities.

Support pupils with their individual education and development plans.

Encourage independence, confidence, communication and social development.

Provide emotional and pastoral support where required.

Support pupils with personal care needs when required.

Follow individual behaviour support strategies and contribute to positive behaviour management.

Help create a safe, calm and inclusive classroom environment.

Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other members of the SEN support team.

Promote the wellbeing, safety and development of every pupil.
About You
We are looking for a compassionate and dependable SEN Teaching Assistant who genuinely wants to make a difference to children and young people with additional needs.
Previous experience in an SEN school, specialist school, residential setting, care environment or mainstream school with additional needs experience would be beneficial.
You will ideally have:

Experience working with children or young people.

Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN or additional needs is desirable.

Relevant qualifications in Teaching Assistant support, SEN, education, childcare, health and social care or a related field are desirable but not essential.
