SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Near Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
Salary: £95 - £105 per day (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 4.00pm (Term Time Only)
Contract: Full-Time | Temp to Perm Opportunity
Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can support young people to overcome barriers and reach their potential? We are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school near Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
The school provides a supportive and inclusive setting for pupils across primary and secondary age groups with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, communication difficulties, sensory needs, moderate learning difficulties (MLD), and associated learning challenges.
About the Position
Working as part of a dedicated team, you will support pupils with their learning, personal development, and emotional wellbeing. You will work alongside teachers and other professionals to deliver tailored support based around each pupil’s individual needs and EHCP outcomes.
The role will include:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small group sessions
- Helping deliver personalised learning activities and classroom support
- Encouraging confidence, independence, and positive engagement
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour approaches
- Promoting communication, social skills, and relationship building
- Creating a safe, structured, and encouraging learning environment
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff and wider support teams
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Is caring, patient, and committed to making a difference
- Has an interest in supporting children and young people with SEND
- Has previous SEN experience (preferred but not essential, as training can be provided)
- Understands or has experience supporting autism, ADHD, or communication needs
- Can remain calm and consistent when supporting challenging situations
- Builds positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Holds an enhanced Adult & Child DBS on the update service
