SEN Teaching Assistant - Near Horsham, West Sussex

We are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in a rural setting near Horsham, West Sussex. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is patient, compassionate and motivated to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people with additional needs.
Position Details
Location: Near Horsham, West Sussex
Hours:
Pay: £14.00 - £15.00 per hour
Contract: Long-term / Temp-to-Perm
Please note: Due to the rural location of the school, your own transport is essential.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:

Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with complex mental health and additional needs

Helping students regulate their emotions and develop positive coping strategies

Encouraging engagement with learning and supporting pupils to overcome barriers to progress

Building positive, trusting relationships with students
-
Working closely with teaching staff and other professionals to deliver individualised support
-
Supporting pupils across different key stages with their academic, social and emotional development
-
Helping maintain a positive, structured and inclusive classroom environment
The school takes a therapeutic and highly individualised approach, with small class sizes and tailored strategies designed around each young person's specific needs.
About You
You will ideally have:

A genuine interest in SEN and supporting young people with additional needs

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

The ability to build positive relationships with pupils

A flexible and proactive approach to supporting students

The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
Previous experience working within an SEN or specialist education setting is advantageous, but not essential. The right attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.
